Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver skilled nursing care to patients in the Step-Down/SDU environment
• Continuously monitor and assess patient status, intervening promptly as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Perform and interpret telemetry/monitoring data to detect changes in condition
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and safe transitions of care
• Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN with LA privileges as applicable)
• Experience or comfort working in a Step-Down Unit/SDU or similar higher-acuity telemetry setting preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently on per-diem assignments and integrate quickly with unit teams

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and intermediate critical care principles
• Strong patient assessment and prioritization abilities
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients, families, and clinicians
• Competence with electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
• Stable performance in fast-paced, variable clinical situations
