Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based respiratory care to patients across the continuum
• Administer and monitor respiratory therapies and treatments, adjusting care as needed
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory support equipment safely and confidently
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Assess patient respiratory status, document findings, and communicate changes promptly
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, equipment, and home care planning

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT or CRT) or eligible for licensure in Louisiana
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Clinical experience with adult and/or pediatric ventilator management preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to pass facility-required background and health screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (or related clinical program) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Knowledgeable in oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, and airway clearance techniques
• Familiar with arterial blood gas interpretation and pulmonary function testing
• Comfortable with bedside patient education and family communication
• Skilled in documentation and electronic medical record charting
