Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Stabilize and deliver evidence-based care for acute and urgent conditions
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
• Administer medications, start IVs, and perform required emergency procedures safely and competently
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Respond to codes and emergency activations with confidence and teamwork
• Advocate for patient safety, quality outcomes, and efficient ED throughput

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to practice in Louisiana preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred for ED roles
• Prior ED/ER nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility health requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
• Willingness to work 12.5-hour shifts as scheduled by the unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills for rapid decision-making
• Acute care and trauma management knowledge
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency interventions
• Familiarity with EHR documentation and accurate charting
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and time management in high-acuity settings
• Teamwork, clear communication, and patient-centered advocacy
