Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered pre-operative care to pediatric patients
• Perform comprehensive pre-op assessments and document findings clearly
• Prepare patients and families for procedures, explaining steps in an age-appropriate way
• Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure smooth patient flow and safety
• Monitor and record vital signs, and escalate changes in condition per protocol
• Ensure adherence to infection control and perioperative safety standards
• Assist with efficient room turnover and maintain accurate pre-op documentation

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri (or compact RN eligible)
• Experience in pediatric nursing and/or pre-operative nursing preferred
• BLS certification required; PALS or pediatric life support certification strongly preferred
• Comfortable working with children and communicating with families
• Ability to follow perioperative protocols and work collaboratively in a surgical setting
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and time-management skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pre-operative assessment and pediatric care principles
• Skill in clinical documentation and accurate vital-sign monitoring
• Familiarity with pediatric psychosocial needs and age-appropriate communication
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic IV/medication administration skills and perioperative safety practices
