Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in the operating room
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members to ensure smooth cases
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout procedures
• Prepare patients and operating room setup, including instruments and supplies
• Accurately document perioperative care, handoffs, and patient status in the EHR
• Participate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives to improve outcomes
• Support patients and families with compassionate communication before and after surgery

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Louisiana licensure preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and CNOR preferred or encouraged
• Prior perioperative/OR nursing experience preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Current ACLS/CEN/CNOR certifications as applicable to role and facility preference

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and room setup
• Patient assessment and monitoring during the perioperative period
• Accurate EHR documentation and charting
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and prioritize in fast-paced environments
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
