Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and sterile field, ensuring all instruments are ready
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments with speed and precision
• Maintain strict sterile technique and consistently follow safety protocols
• Assist with instrument counts and documentation to support patient safety
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia for smooth case flow
• Communicate clearly with the team and patients to create a calm environment
• Help ensure equipment is cleaned, inspected, and restocked between cases

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtainable
• Ability to pass background check and required immunizations
• Previous operating room or surgical tech experience preferred but new grads who show strong skills are welcome
• Comfort working in a pediatric surgical environment is a plus

Education

• Certificate or Associate degree in Surgical Technology or completion of an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent understanding of sterile technique and OR asepsis
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and procedure trays
• Strong situational awareness and ability to anticipate team needs
• Clear verbal communication and teamwork skills
• Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing case schedules and priorities
