Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality neuro critical care to patients in the Neuro ICU with compassion and clinical precision
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor changes in intracranial pressure and neurologic status
• Administer medications and titrate drips safely while closely monitoring patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to create and execute individualized care plans
• Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in critical interventions and code situations
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and recovery expectations with empathy and clarity
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to mentor new team members

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license in Louisiana
• BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred or required per facility policy
• Prior Neuro ICU or critical care experience preferred
• Comfortable with advanced monitoring equipment, drips, and rapid clinical decision-making
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Willingness to complete facility orientation and any required competency validations

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough understanding of neurologic assessment (GCS, pupil checks, motor/sensory exams)
• Familiarity with intracranial pressure monitoring and neuro-specific devices
• Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring in the ICU
• Proficiency administering IV medications and managing continuous infusions
• Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and multitasking under pressure
• Comfortable using electronic health records and documenting timely, accurate entries
• Teamwork, patient/family education, and compassionate bedside manner
