Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adults and children in the emergency department
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
• Administer medications, IVs, and treatments safely and per protocol
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
• Respond to and manage emergency situations, performing life-saving interventions when needed
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Support and mentor new staff and students to build a strong ED team

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana (or multistate compact license if applicable)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous Emergency Department/ED experience highly desirable; new grads with ED-focused training considered
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency triage and rapid patient assessment
• IV placement, medication administration, and ACLS/BLS protocols
• Familiarity with emergency department workflows and priorities
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records
• Ability to stabilize critically ill patients and coordinate rapid interventions
• Strong situational awareness and multi-tasking in a high-acuity setting
