Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care and assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output and changes in condition accurately
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention by using proper transfer techniques
- Follow infection prevention practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families and the care team to support person-centered care
- Document care thoroughly in the assigned charting system and report concerns to nursing staff promptly
- Participate as a collaborative team member during shift handoffs and care planning
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification in good standing (state certification required)
- Up-to-date required immunizations and health clearance per employer policy: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, Influenza vaccine
- Current physical/health statement and cleared Trinity 10 panel drug screen
- Background check and any required state registry checks
- Comfortable working in long-term care or skilled nursing settings; prior experience preferred but new grads welcome
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-first attitude
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completed state-approved CNA training program and active CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in resident-focused personal care and ADLs
- Knowledge of infection control and standard precautions
- Basic vital sign assessment and reporting
- Safe transfer and ambulation techniques
- Accurate documentation and time management
- Teamwork, professionalism and a respectful approach to residents and families
- Familiarity with long-term care routines and regulatory standards
