Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
- Serve as the patient advocate throughout the surgical experience, ensuring safety and dignity
- Coordinate and direct assigned personnel, providing clear supervision and support in the OR
- Follow established standards of care, policies, and procedures to maintain consistent, safe practice
- Participate in on-call rotation and float to other departments as needed to support patient care
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Oregon or eligible to obtain licensure prior to start
- Prior perioperative or circulator nursing experience preferred
- BLS required; ACLS or PALS as applicable are a plus
- Comfortable supervising perioperative personnel and serving in an on-call rotation
- Ability to float to other units when qualified and support varied clinical needs
- Strong patient advocacy, critical thinking, and communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
- CNOR certification is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing practice including pre-, intra-, and post-operative care
- Nursing process, standards of care, and adherence to policies and procedures
- Patient advocacy and surgical safety principles
- Team supervision and effective delegation
- Ability to function in a fast-paced OR environment and adapt to changing case needs
