Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator settings for critically ill patients with precision
- Provide expert ventilator management across adult critical care, ICU, ER and NICU settings
- Deliver noninvasive ventilation therapies and monitor patient response
- Perform arterial puncture and other respiratory procedures safely and competently
- Administer and monitor inhaled therapies such as inhaled nitric oxide, heliox and surfactants where applicable
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust respiratory care plans
- Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately and promptly
- Support neonatal, infant and adult patients with compassionate, evidence-based respiratory care
Qualifications
- CRT acceptable — Certified Respiratory Therapist credential welcomed
- Mechanical ventilation and critical care experience required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required if you have NICU experience
- Experience with noninvasive ventilation and arterial puncture
- Comfortable working nights and in high-acuity settings (ICU, ER, NICU, floor therapy)
- Familiarity with inhaled therapies and respiratory medications (LABA, LAMA, SABA, ICS, surfactant) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
- Hands-on experience with Drager v500, vn500, Evita XL, Carina, Philips V60 and V30
- Skill with noninvasive ventilation modalities and airway management
- Understanding of respiratory pharmacology and inhaled therapies
- Ability to perform arterial puncture and interpret blood gases
- Comfort working across the lifespan: neonates, infants, adults and geriatrics
