Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide rapid, high-quality emergency nursing care and triage in a 28-bed ER
- Perform cardiac monitoring and timely interpretation to guide acute interventions
- Stabilize trauma patients and coordinate with trauma team members in high-pressure situations
- Deliver compassionate behavioral health patient care in dedicated rooms when needed
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation and emergency medications per protocol
- Document patient care clearly and communicate effectively during handoffs
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to deliver safe, efficient patient flow
- Maintain current certifications and participate in ongoing skills-building
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the State of Hawaii (must have by start of assignment)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) with verifiable ER experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented emergency department
- Procedural Sedation, TMCC, and EMPC certifications preferred but not required
- Ability to provide trauma and cardiac monitoring care in a busy ED environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — current RN licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency and trauma nursing knowledge
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring and rhythm recognition
- Experience with behavioral health patient management in the ER
- Skilled in acute assessment, prioritization, and rapid intervention
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to high patient turnover and changing priorities
