Roles & Responsibilities
- Verify and accurately dispense medications to support patient safety and positive outcomes
- Review medication orders and clinical notes to catch interactions and dosing issues
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize therapy plans
- Support inventory management and ensure medication availability during emergency coverage
- Educate patients and staff about medications, side effects, and safe use
- Document interventions and maintain accurate records to support continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active RPh (Registered Pharmacist) credential required
- Eligible for or currently holding a Texas pharmacist license
- PharmD preferred or equivalent pharmacy degree
- Prior experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy settings is a plus
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred and immunization certification a plus
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and a team-focused mindset
Education
- PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) preferred; BS in Pharmacy or equivalent considered
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of pharmacotherapy, drug interactions, and dosing principles
- Experience with medication safety practices and error prevention
- Comfort using electronic medication administration and pharmacy systems
- Ability to counsel patients and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Inventory control, sterile compounding basics, and formulary management awareness
