Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the unit with confident clinical oversight and strong people-first management
- Coordinate patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure excellent outcomes
- Support, mentor and evaluate nursing staff to build a skilled, resilient team
- Manage unit operations including staffing, triage, and workflow improvements
- Respond to on-call needs promptly and provide clinical leadership during off-hours
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory and facility standards are met
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff to promote a calm, professional environment
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required (Maine license or compact where applicable)
- Previous unit management or nurse leadership experience preferred
- Comfortable and experienced with on-call responsibilities
- Strong clinical decision-making, delegation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Current BLS certification; additional certifications (ACLS, leadership/management) a plus
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Unit management and staffing coordination
- Clinical judgment across varied patient care situations
- Ability to lead and mentor nursing teams
- Familiarity with quality improvement and regulatory compliance
- Strong time management and ability to handle on-call workflows
- Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
