Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and improve flow
- Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and response to treatment
- Collaborate closely with ER physicians, APPs, and allied health staff to coordinate care
- Communicate changes in patient status and diagnostic results clearly and promptly
- Provide direction to Emergency Department techs and registration staff as needed
- Respond rapidly and confidently to emergencies and changes in clinical condition
- Work cooperatively with patients and families to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care
- Contribute to departmental efficiency and patient flow through sound clinical judgment
Qualifications
- Current RN license (Montana license or compact license accepted where applicable)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Experience in emergency nursing or triage preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Comfort providing direction to techs and supporting ED operations
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing practices and triage principles
- Rapid patient assessment and clinical decision-making
- Clear clinical communication with physicians, APPs, and team members
- Patient monitoring and recognition of acute changes
- Teamwork, supervision, and ED operations awareness
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting
