Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care nursing for PCU/stepdown patients, including those with CHF, MI, arrhythmias and post cardiac procedures
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to guide patient care
• Safely titrate and manage cardiac IV medications and drips such as nitroglycerine, diltiazem, amiodarone, dopamine and insulin/heparin drips
• Perform bedside procedures including cardioversion when indicated and follow post-procedure protocols
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications and discharge planning to support positive outcomes
• Serve as a reliable, flexible team member during every other weekend coverage and when floating to other units

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in progressive care, stepdown or telemetry nursing
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Hands-on experience with titratable cardiac medications and IV drips
• Experience using Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Comfortable with bedside cardioversion and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Ability to work every other weekend and float to MedSurg, COVID or ER holding areas as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Management and titration of cardiac medications and vasoactive drips
• IV pump and infusion device proficiency, including Baxter pumps
• Familiarity with Zoll cardiac devices and post-procedure care
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families and clinical teams
• Adaptability in fast-paced, variable acuity environments
