Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiac critical care for post open-heart and complex ICU patients, delivering compassionate, expert bedside nursing
• Manage ventilators and perform intubation support as needed to maintain airway and respiratory stability
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and titrate therapies to optimize cardiac function
• Support and operate advanced devices such as Impella and CRRT when clinically indicated
• Respond as an active member of the rapid response and code blue teams with calm, decisive interventions
• Document care accurately and timely in Meditech, ensuring clear handoffs and continuity
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families about treatments and recovery expectations to improve outcomes and experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of ICU or cardiac critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required
• CCRN certification is a plus and encouraged
• Clinical experience with post open-heart postop care, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with CRRT and Impella care strongly preferred
• Comfortable with Meditech documentation and electronic charting
• Ability to float to other units as needed and meet scheduling requirements, including weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac critical care assessment and interventions
• Ventilator management and airway support, including intubation familiarity
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
• Experience with CRRT operations and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with Impella device management and Hemosphere advanced monitoring
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical records
• Strong critical thinking, rapid response, and teamwork skills
• Clear communication with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
