Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients rapidly and compassionately, prioritizing life-saving interventions
• Initiate and manage ACLS/BLS/PALS protocols as appropriate during critical events
• Recognize and lead early sepsis and stroke interventions to improve patient outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and unit staff to deliver efficient, high-quality emergency care
• Document assessments and care thoroughly in Meditech to ensure continuity and compliance
• Operate and maintain unit equipment (Hillrom, Stryker, GE, Lifepak defibrillators) safely
• Support a positive patient experience through clear communication and patient-centered care
• Adapt to floating assignments within the Parkridge system while maintaining standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (emergency department experience preferred)
• ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications (must-have)
• CPI (de-escalation) certification required
• Chest pain and stroke certifications preferred
• Comfortable with tele-psych encounters and caring for a 4-bed psych pod when assigned

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sepsis and stroke recognition and management skills
• Proficient with Meditech documentation
• Experience with Hillrom, Stryker, GE equipment and Lifepak defibrillators
• Ability to work with a 4:1 patient ratio and prioritize care in a busy ED
• Skilled in emergency procedures, triage, and rapid assessment
• Good communicator who works well in interdisciplinary teams
