Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to orthopedic surgery patients before and after procedures
• Assess, monitor and document patient condition using Meditech EMR and communicate changes to the care team
• Implement perioperative and postoperative nursing interventions to support optimal recovery for total joint and spine surgery patients
• Collaborate with surgeons, therapists and ancillary staff to coordinate safe, efficient patient care
• Educate patients and families about procedures, post-op care and discharge planning to improve outcomes
• Maintain unit standards for safety, infection control and use of orthopedic equipment such as immobilizers and braces

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Colorado or compact RN license preferred)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience with solid Med/Surg background
• Experience in orthopedic/ spine care or total joint/postoperative management preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR (experience strongly preferred)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS or specialty certifications a plus
• Energetic, empathetic professional with a good sense of humor and strong teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing principles and postoperative orthopedic care
• Orthopedic procedures knowledge: total joints (knee, hip, shoulder) and spine surgery care
• Proficient documentation and charting in Meditech EMR
• Patient experience focus and excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with orthopedic equipment: immobilizers, braces, cold therapy
