Shift Type: Night shifts, schedule varies (may include weekends), 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 36 or 48 hours guaranteed; must be willing to float to other units and take charge shifts (Night)

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and deliver individualized care plans
- Utilize the nursing process to manage complex psychiatric and forensic patient needs
- Provide clinical supervision of mental health workers to ensure safe, therapeutic care
- Lead charge shifts as assigned, managing unit flow, safety, and staff coordination
- Support medically assisted withdrawal and co-occurring disorder treatment efforts
- Float to other units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
- Document care thoroughly and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the team
- Promote a safe, recovery-focused environment and participate in crisis intervention
Qualifications
- Active Vermont RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience; inpatient psychiatric/forensic experience required
- Recent forensics experience within the last 3 months is mandatory
- BLS (AHA) certification required; CPI preferred or willing to obtain (onsite option available)
- Willingness to float to other units and to take charge shifts as scheduled
- Two supervisory references from the last two years of employment
- Resume must list psych experience and age groups; RTO cannot exceed 7 days
- Will consider first-time travel nurses who meet clinical requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN licensure
- BLS (AHA) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Forensic and inpatient psychiatric nursing best practices
- Clinical supervision and staff oversight for MHWs
- Assessment and management of co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
- Medically assisted withdrawal protocols and stabilization care
- Crisis de-escalation techniques and behavioral health safety practices
- Charge nurse skills including unit leadership, staffing decisions, and escalation
- Strong documentation, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Familiarity with psych meds, medication administration, and nursing process
