Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams with professionalism and care
• Conduct interview-based evaluations and focused physical assessments (ROM, muscle strength) including TBI screening
• Complete standardized DBQs and submit them within 48 hours of the exam
• Review veteran medical records and document findings in VES provider portal
• Provide follow-up administrative work such as addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic reading when required
• Participate in required training (DMA, VES orientation, DBQ training) and PEP check-ins before initial exams
• Maintain timely, standardized reporting—no narrative reports, final product is standardized forms

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Neurology, Neurosurgery, or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
• Comfortable evaluating Traumatic Brain Injury and General Medicine presentations
• Experience with range-of-motion testing, goniometer use, and muscle strength assessment
• Familiarity with musculoskeletal, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions
• Proficient in METs testing and evaluating respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions
• Willingness to complete VA DMA certification and VES training (Reach360) if not already certified
• Own personal laptop (NO MACs) and ability to work in the VES provider portal
• Ability to complete credentialing and onboarding paperwork within required timelines

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification in Neurology, Neurosurgery, or PM&R

Knowledge & Skills

• Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam process and standardized DBQs
• Traumatic Brain Injury evaluation techniques
• Use of goniometer and physical exam maneuvers for ROM and strength
• Record review and medical opinion/addendum writing
• Proficiency with provider portals (VES) and training platform Reach360
• METs testing and interpretation
• Reading diagnostics and integrating findings into DBQs
