Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality interventional cardiology inpatient care for adult and geriatric patients
• Perform and assist with interventional procedures as clinically indicated
• Manage admissions, discharges, and day-to-day inpatient clinical decision-making (2–8 admissions/discharges per day variable)
• Round on and manage a daily census of approximately 15–25 patients
• Collaborate closely with APCs who complete H&Ps, providing oversight and ensuring continuity of care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC, following hospital standards
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in credentialing and onboarding activities to ensure smooth coverage

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of residency and cardiology fellowship with interventional training
• Board certified or board eligible in Cardiology/Interventional Cardiology
• Active or eligible medical license in Virginia (ability to obtain state licensure for locum coverage)
• Experience in inpatient interventional cardiology practice; locum tenens experience preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR; EPIC training will be provided if needed
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Comfort collaborating with APCs and supervising inpatient teams
• Willingness to complete credentialing requirements within the estimated timeframe

Education

• MD or DO degree; completion of Cardiology fellowship with interventional training
• Board certification or eligibility in Cardiology/Interventional Cardiology

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical judgment in acute cardiac care and interventional procedures
• In-depth knowledge of inpatient cardiology workflows and post-procedure care
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and electronic order entry
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary hospital staff
• Ability to manage variable daily volumes and prioritize patient safety
• Credentialing and licensure process awareness for locum assignments
