Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality inpatient care as a hospitalist, managing admissions, daily care and safe discharges
• Coordinate patient-centered care with nurses, specialists and allied health to ensure smooth transitions
• Document clinical encounters thoroughly and timely in the electronic medical record
• Lead clinical decision-making on the unit, triage appropriately and escalate when needed
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives and interdisciplinary rounds to advance care
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based inpatient medicine practices and hospital protocols

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or equivalent) with appropriate board eligibility/certification in a relevant specialty
• Completion of an accredited residency (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or equivalent preferred)
• Plan to obtain Board Certification within one year if a new graduate (open to new grads)
• Ability to obtain and maintain medical licensure in Iowa and hospital privileges at Genesis Medical Center
• Clean malpractice history preferred; cannot accept providers with malpractice cases in probate or requiring supervision
• U.S. work authorization required — not accepting visa candidates
• No Locums candidates accepted

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent)
• Completion of an accredited residency program; board eligibility/certification expected

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong inpatient medicine and acute care skills with comfort managing a wide variety of diagnoses
• Familiarity with Level III trauma center operations and coordination of higher-acuity care
• Excellent clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to patient safety, continuous improvement and evidence-based practice
