Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapy to patients across acuity levels
• Manage ventilators and deliver airway support according to provider orders and protocols
• Perform patient assessments, monitor respiratory status, and interpret blood gases
• Administer respiratory treatments (nebulizers, chest physiotherapy, inhaled medications) safely and effectively
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to develop and adjust care plans
• Document assessment findings, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Participate in Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing to maintain proficiency
• Adhere to infection control practices, complete fit testing, and maintain required immunizations and health screenings

Qualifications

• Credentialed Respiratory Therapist (state license or equivalent) — license/certificate verification required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing as required by assignment
• Successful completion of required health screenings: fit test, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, varicella, and 10-panel drug screen
• Ability to pass a physical/health statement and any facility-required screenings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams
• Professional attitude, reliability, and commitment to patient-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Airway management and oxygen therapy delivery
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and interpretation
• Familiarity with respiratory equipment, noninvasive ventilation, and aerosol therapies
• Accurate documentation and charting practices
• Infection control principles and PPE use
• Team collaboration, clear communication, and patient education
• Adaptability to different clinical environments and protocols
