Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and infusion therapies safely and competently in an outpatient GU/Urology oncology clinic
• Access, care for, and manage ports, PICC lines, and central lines with precision
• Provide thorough patient education on treatment expectations, side-effect management, and home care
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure seamless interdisciplinary communication
• Assess and triage symptoms, recognize abnormal lab values, and escalate concerns promptly
• Follow neutropenic and isolation precautions and manage body-fluid/chemo spill protocols
• Support minor in-clinic procedures and post-surgical care with attention to patient comfort and safety
• Collaborate with pharmacy, IV teams, social services, and other support departments to coordinate patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Oncology experience required/preferred)
• BLS certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and infusion therapy
• Skills in accessing/managing ports, PICC and central line care, and phlebotomy
• Familiarity with telemetry interpretation/monitoring and adult/geriatric patient populations
• Previous charge experience preferred; teaching and community hospital experience a plus
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Chemotherapy handling, oral chemo administration, and cytotoxic spill management
• Infusion therapy techniques and IV start/maintenance
• Port and central line care, central line blood draws
• Symptom management for nausea, neuropathy, edema, altered mental status and mucous membrane changes
• Neutropenic and isolation precautions
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Strong patient education and communication skills for outpatient oncology care
• Familiarity with GU oncology diagnoses: bladder, kidney, prostate cancers
