Candidate Pay Rate: $81 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Initiate, monitor and manage mechanical ventilation settings and life support for critically ill patients
- Perform airway management including emergency intubation and tracheostomy care
- Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases and adjust ventilator parameters in collaboration with physicians
- Provide age-appropriate respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients
- Administer and monitor therapeutic treatments including nebulizer/aerosol therapy and chest physiotherapy
- Operate pulmonary function testing and pulse oximetry equipment, document results for physician use
- Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and ventilatory support during emergent situations
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, home care and oxygen conservation
- Maintain equipment, adhere to infection control practices and ensure a safe patient environment
- Support additional services such as cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, EEG electrode placement and sleep studies as assigned
Qualifications
- Active Hawaii Respiratory Therapist license required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care preferred
- Competence in mechanical ventilation, ABG analysis and airway management
- Experience with neonatal and pediatric respiratory care strongly preferred
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Comfort working shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays; must be flexible
Education
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator mode selection (CPAP, BiPAP, IMV, etc.)
- Airway management, endotracheal tube and tracheostomy care
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and ventilator adjustments
- Pulmonary function testing and use of PFT equipment
- Pulse oximetry monitoring and basic equipment maintenance
- Neonatal and pediatric respiratory assessment and treatment
- Nebulizer and aerosol therapy administration
- Patient education, communication and family-centered care
- Infection control practices and safe equipment handling
- Familiarity with EEG electrode placement and polysomnography (benefit)
