Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the shift as a charge/preceptor RN, mentoring team members and guiding safe patient care
• Provide compassionate, comprehensive med-surg and oncology nursing care for a 27-bed unit
• Manage and care for central lines, PICC and midline devices with strong competency
• Monitor telemetry patients and collaborate with remote monitor techs to ensure timely interventions
• Coordinate patient care with the interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner to maintain continuity and quality of care
• Float to other med-surg units when needed and assist resource nurse with tasks and break coverage

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in California
• Minimum 2 years of recent med-surg or oncology RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong central line, PICC and midline management experience
• Charge/preceptor experience preferred and ability to teach/precept others
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Chemo certification is a bonus but not required
• Able to work nights, float to other med-surg units, and meet on-call reporting expectations (must report within 30 minutes if placed on standby/call)

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of med-surg and oncology patient care
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Central line and infusion site assessment and care
• Skilled documentation in Cerner
• Strong communication and teaching skills for precepting and charge duties
• Ability to prioritize and manage staffing/assignment decisions
• Compassionate bedside manner and patient-centered care approach
