Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and cardiac rhythms to spot changes early and act decisively
• Administer and titrate IV medications (heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, nitroglycerin, insulin, antibiotics) safely and per protocol
• Provide focused stepdown/PCU nursing care for patients with sepsis, STEMI, CHF, stroke, COVID, COPD, DKA and complex multisystem conditions
• Perform timely admissions, transfers and discharges while maintaining thorough documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including CNAs, RTs and charge nurses to deliver cohesive patient care
• Engage patients and families with bedside report and hourly rounding to enhance patient experience
• Adhere to unit policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy) and complete orientation competencies

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (telemetry/stepdown preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Experience with EPIC documentation preferred
• Comfort and competence titrating IV drips and managing cardiopulmonary support devices
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius rule)
• Willingness to pass a skills/orientation exam (90% required) and comply with unit policies
• Ability to float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab or Skilled Care as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and monitor interpretation — reading your own strips with confidence
• IV medication administration and titration experience
• Familiarity with BiPAP, Airvo and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for stepdown-level patients
• Proficient documentation and charting in EPIC
• Teamwork, clear communication and positive patient engagement
• Time management to handle busy admission/discharge flow
