Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instrumentation, ensuring everything is organized and ready
• Pass instruments and supplies efficiently to the surgical team, anticipating surgeon needs
• Ensure patient safety by following strict sterile technique and infection control practices
• Perform accurate instrument and sponge counts and document as required
• Assist with OR turnover, clean-up, and restocking to support smooth operations
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with surgeons, nurses, patients, and families
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent clinical training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills welcome
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must obtain upon hire
• Comfort working in pediatric surgical settings; experience with pediatric cases is a plus
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (or equivalent clinical training)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique, instrument identification, and OR protocols
• Skillful handling of surgical instruments and implants with precision
• Ability to anticipate clinical needs and act proactively in the OR
• Familiarity with surgical counts, wound closure assistance, and specimen handling
• Good communication skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to fast-paced environments and changing case schedules
