Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate respiratory care to patients, following established protocols and best practices
• Operate and monitor ventilators and respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Assess patients’ respiratory status and respond promptly to changes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans
• Document treatments, observations and patient responses accurately and timely
• Participate in orientation activities and support new team members as needed
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist (RT) credential or state licensure (Missouri licensure required if working on-site)
• NBRC credentialing preferred or required per facility policy
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Comfortable working with pediatric populations (Shriners specializes in pediatric care)
• Demonstrated clinical skills managing ventilators and airway therapies
• Professional, patient-centered attitude with strong communication skills

Education

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with ventilator management and respiratory therapy devices
• Ability to perform and interpret basic arterial blood gas (ABG) results
• Familiarity with infection control and equipment sterilization procedures
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfort working as part of a multidisciplinary pediatric care team
