Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor complex clinical changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to implement individualized plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate when needed
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and safe transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Experience working in a Step-Down Unit or similar acute care setting preferred
• Comfort with 12+ hour clinical shifts and variable per diem scheduling
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Current basic competency with documentation and bedside monitoring equipment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment, telemetry monitoring, and early recognition of deterioration
• Proficient with medication administration and documentation best practices
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced setting
• Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Comfortable delivering care for intermediate/acuity patients transitioning from ICU
• Good clinical judgment and a commitment to patient safety
