Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the step-down/unit setting
• Continuously monitor and assess patients, responding to changes in condition promptly
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and family to develop and implement care plans
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based projects that improve patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Recent acute care or step-down unit experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with telemetry/hemodynamic monitoring
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and provide reliable coverage for assigned schedule
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative attitude

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in cardiac/telemetry monitoring and recognizing early signs of deterioration
• Competent with medication administration, IV therapy, and patient assessment
• Comfortable documenting in electronic medical records and following unit protocols
• Excellent critical thinking and prioritization under pressure
• Team-focused with strong interpersonal and patient education skills
• Knowledge of infection control and patient safety best practices
