Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Continuously monitor and assess the condition of critically ill children and respond promptly
• Administer medications, therapies and interventions safely and per protocol
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and the multidisciplinary team to develop and follow care plans
• Educate and support families, keeping them informed and involved in care decisions
• Accurately document patient status, interventions and outcomes in the medical record
• Maintain adherence to infection control, safety and regulatory standards
• Participate in orientation and precepting to help onboard new team members

Qualifications

• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required
• Experience caring for pediatric critically ill patients or completion of a PICU orientation program preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
• Excellent communication skills and a family-centered approach to care
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and PICU workflows
• Familiarity with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring and pediatric medication dosing
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Skilled in de-escalation, crisis response and emergency interventions
• Comfortable providing family education and emotional support
