Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate step-down care to cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients recovering from procedures like CABG, TAVR, and AAA repair
• Monitor telemetry and manage cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin to keep patients stable and comfortable
• Manage chest tubes, epidurals, and tube feedings while delivering hands-on support that helps patients regain strength and confidence
• Collaborate with a dynamic team of nurses, PCTs, and charge nurses in a fast-paced 40-bed CVPC unit where every shift makes a real difference
• Float to other step-down or medical-surgical units when needed, bringing your expertise and positive attitude wherever you go

Qualifications

• Active RN license and current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of step-down or progressive care experience with strong telemetry skills
• Preferred: recent CV surgery or CVICU experience caring for open-heart, thoracic, and vascular patients
• Comfortable working 1:5 patient ratios and thriving in a team-oriented, high-energy environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Step-down and telemetry monitoring expertise
• Cardiac drip management and chest tube care
• Epidural management and IV pump proficiency
• Cerner EMR documentation skills
• Ability to adapt quickly and support colleagues across multiple units
