Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
- Assist surgical teams with case preparation, instrumentation, and sterile technique
- Monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures and communicate changes
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and sterile field practices
- Collaborate proactively with surgical techs, anesthesiology, and providers to optimize outcomes
- Document accurately and timely to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for Louisiana licensure
- Operating Room (OR) experience or strong perioperative background preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
- Ability to function effectively in high-acuity surgical environments and strong teamwork skills
- Comfort with case turnover, instrumentation, and maintaining sterile technique
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing principles and OR protocols
- Sterile technique and surgical instrumentation familiarity
- Strong patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring skills
- Clear, concise communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Time management and the ability to prioritize during fast-paced procedures
