Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field and assist with surgical instrumentation
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the OR team to ensure smooth cases
• Assess patient status, monitor vital signs, and escalate concerns promptly
• Document perioperative care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Participate in time-out procedures and adhere to infection control and safety protocols
• Support patient and family education with compassion and clear communication

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana or ability to obtain state licensure
• Minimum OR experience preferred; prior perioperative nursing experience a strong plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or CNOR preferred when available
• Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical environment and adapting to varied case types
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work per diem shifts and respond to scheduling needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and aseptic technique
• Familiarity with common OR instruments, supplies, and surgical workflows
• Proficient patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting practices
• Time management and the ability to prioritize in the OR setting
