Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to neuro stepdown patients, focusing on safety and recovery
• Continuously assess and monitor patient status, including neurological checks and hemodynamic parameters
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and execute individualized care plans
• Administer medications, titrate drips, and perform complex nursing interventions accurately and timely
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning to support recovery
• Document patient care clearly and thoroughly to ensure continuity and compliance
• Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Louisiana (or compact state privileges as applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or encouraged
• Experience caring for neuro or stepdown patients preferred; strong neuro assessment skills
• Comfort with managing telemetry, drips, and post-procedure monitoring
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neurological assessment and monitoring skills
• Familiarity with stepdown/SDU protocols and telemetry
• Medication administration and IV/drip management expertise
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
• Clear, compassionate patient and family education
• Proficient clinical documentation and electronic charting
