Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care on the medical-surgical unit
- Assess patient status, monitor vital signs, and recognize subtle changes
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and follow care plans
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans
- Document care thoroughly and communicate handoffs clearly at shift change
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (NH licensure or compact eligibility preferred)
- Experience in Med/Surg nursing or recent clinical exposure to medical-surgical settings
- Current BLS certification; ACLS or specialty certifications are a plus
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication skills
- Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced unit
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of medical-surgical patient care principles and practices
- Proficiency with medication administration and patient safety protocols
- Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
- Skilled at patient/family education and collaborative teamwork
- Time management and ability to triage competing clinical needs
