Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for medical-surgical pediatric patients
• Assess patient status frequently and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and family members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on condition management and discharge instructions
• Maintain strong infection control practices and ensure patient safety
• Participate in unit orientation and follow all hospital policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in California (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Clinical experience in medical-surgical and/or pediatric nursing preferred
• Ability to work per diem shifts with flexibility and reliability
• Must meet facility health screening and background check requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in pediatric and medical-surgical nursing assessments
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Strong clinical judgment and situational awareness
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
• Proficient with electronic medical records and documentation standards
• Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize in a busy unit
