Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Monitor patient status and communicate changes promptly to the care team
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
- Document care thoroughly and maintain compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN license where applicable)
- Minimum clinical experience caring for Med/Surg patients preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/PALS as unit requires
- Strong assessment, critical thinking and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and adapt to changing patient needs
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
- Familiarity with medication administration and IV therapy
- Proficiency in patient assessment and documentation
- Good communication skills with patients, families and teammates
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients safely
