Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients
• Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs, and communicate changes promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care and maintain accurate, timely records
• Support smooth transitions of care by coordinating with other units and services
• Champion patient safety and maintain a calm, professional presence in busy situations

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN license if applicable)
• Med/Surg clinical experience preferred; comfort with adult medical-surgical patient populations
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Comfortable with IV meds, wound care, and common Med/Surg procedures
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and prioritization skills
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple patients safely

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong foundational knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles
• Familiarity with patient monitoring and documentation systems
• Solid medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Critical thinking and rapid assessment abilities
• Customer-service mindset with empathy for patients and families
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and support staff
