Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient status, responding quickly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and discharge plans
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation
• Promote a safe environment by following infection control and patient safety protocols

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact license where applicable)
• Clinical experience or strong interest in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS) a plus
• Ability to pass facility orientation and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Reliable, professional approach to patient care on per-diem assignments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med/Surg clinical assessment and monitoring skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Proficient documentation in electronic health records
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients safely
• Clear, compassionate patient and family education techniques
• Teamwork, adaptability and effective communication under pressure
