Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, patient-centered care on the Med/Surg unit, prioritizing comfort and outcomes
• Assess patients and implement individualized nursing plans of care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and in accordance with protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns in a timely manner
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document patient care clearly and accurately in the electronic health record
• Support a positive, professional work environment and mentor colleagues when appropriate

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Louisiana or compact RN license eligible
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Previous Med/Surg clinical experience preferred
• Current vaccinations and ability to meet facility health requirements
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a busy unit
• Ability to work per-diem shifts, including 12.5-hour assignments

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Active RN license in Louisiana

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid medical-surgical nursing assessment and intervention skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Excellent clinical judgment and prioritization
• Patient education and discharge planning skills
• Teamwork, adaptability, and strong communication with patients and staff
