Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care on a Med/Surg unit
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following physician orders and facility protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor and document patient progress, vitals, and responses to interventions in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, post-discharge care, and prevention
• Prioritize patient safety by identifying risks, escalating concerns promptly, and following infection-control practices
• Support smooth transitions of care by coordinating admissions, discharges, and handoffs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Strong assessment skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple patients safely
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with patients, families, and clinical staff

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing practices and common adult medical/surgical conditions
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Comfortable with patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative management
• Proficient documentation practices and electronic health record (EHR) familiarity
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and time-management skills
• Compassionate patient and family education abilities
