Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care on the medical/surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and timely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patient status and escalate changes promptly to providers
• Document patient care and communicate clearly in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and discharge planning
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN eligible
• Clinical experience in Med/Surg nursing preferred
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS or other specialty certifications a plus
• Comfortable with medication administration, IV management, and common Med/Surg interventions
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
• Ability to handle a 12.5-hour shift and adapt to variable scheduling

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg patient care and common medical conditions
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Excellent patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Good time management, prioritization, and adaptability in a fast-paced unit
• Teamwork, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
