Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Behavioral Health patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to telemetry alerts and changes in patient status
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products and follow heparin/PCA protocols safely and accurately
• Use Epic for thorough, timely charting and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Employ therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to support patients with behavioral health needs
• Implement isolation precautions, wound care and tracheostomy/airway management as required
• Float between assigned units to meet staffing needs while maintaining scope-of-practice standards
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, rapid response events and patient-focused safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travel nurses are accepted
• BLS certification required; ACLS and Workplace Violence Training preferred
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and providing every-other-weekend coverage
• Ability to float between like units and adapt to short-term acute care environments
• Familiarity with Epic charting system required; orientation provided (36 hours)

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN (preferred but not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and remote cardiac surveillance
• Medication administration, IV therapy, PICC/central line and arterial line care
• Blood product administration and adherence to transfusion protocols
• Feeding tube care and management, wound care and surgical drain management
• Non-invasive airway support, oxygen administration and tracheostomy care
• Therapeutic communication, de-escalation and behavioral health interventions
• Isolation precautions and infection prevention practices
• Experience with Epic electronic charting and interdisciplinary coordination
