Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess patient condition, develop and implement nursing care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning and patient education
• Document patient care thoroughly and communicate changes in condition to the care team
• Support a positive patient experience by advocating for patient needs and promoting comfort

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• Minimum clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS) preferred where applicable
• Strong clinical assessment and patient-management skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time-management abilities
• Ability to provide safe care during 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and practices
• Skill in medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Ability to perform patient assessments and prioritize care
• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment
