Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients across medical and surgical units
• Float between designated units (Medical, Laulima Surgical Acute, occasional Cardiovascular) to meet patient care needs
• Manage and care for patients with wound VACs and chest tubes with clinical confidence
• Document care accurately and timely in Meditech EMR and utilize Pyxis for medication administration
• Monitor patients, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain patient safety, infection control practices, and professional nursing standards during night shifts
• Participate in unit orientation and support smooth handoffs and continuity of care
• Collaborate with colleagues to optimize staffing and patient outcomes during variable census and acuity

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license required by start of assignment (must apply/hold upon acceptance)
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC preferred
• 2-10 years of nursing experience (medical-surgical experience strongly preferred)
• Comfort and experience floating between medical and surgical units
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet the physical demands of nursing
• Proof of required immunizations and immunity documentation (medical/religious exemptions not accepted)
• Professional attitude, strong communication skills, and teamwork orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for documentation and order management
• Experience using Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Clinical skills in wound VAC management and chest tube care
• Solid med-surg assessment skills, IV therapy, and medication administration
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond in urgent situations during night shifts
• Flexible mindset for floating and adapting to different unit workflows
