Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for a wide range of ER patients, including trauma, STEMI, and stroke cases
• Rapidly assess, triage, and prioritize patient needs to ensure timely interventions
• Monitor and interpret telemetry/ECG strips and respond to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate closely with ED physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Manage patient care transitions and float to Med/Surg and Swing Bed when needed
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the charting system (PointClickCare)
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment and escalate to appropriate resources when required
• Maintain patient safety, infection control, and unit standards while working in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience required
• Previous Med/Surg experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC
• PALS preferred
• Comfortable reading/interpreting telemetry and ECG strips independently
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts and every-other-weekend coverage
• Ability to float to Med/Surg and Swing Bed as part of unit needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and ECG interpretation skills
• Experience with Mindray telemetry/monitoring equipment
• Familiarity with PointClickCare (PCC) electronic charting
• Strong trauma, STEMI, and stroke care knowledge and protocols (NIHSS familiarity)
• Critical thinking, rapid assessment, and prioritization in emergency settings
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity environments
