Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage and stabilize patients presenting to the emergency department with urgency and compassion
• Deliver evidence-based nursing care, administer medications and treatments safely
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and ancillary staff to coordinate patient flow
• Monitor patients’ conditions, recognize changes quickly and escalate when needed
• Document care accurately and promptly in the patient record
• Provide patient and family education with empathy and clarity during stressful moments
• Participate in unit-based improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and workflow

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact license where applicable)
• Prior emergency department (ED/ER) experience preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfort working 12+ hour shifts in a fast-paced environment
• Strong clinical assessment, IV and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork and critical thinking abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment with quick, accurate decision-making
• IV starts, medication administration and emergency procedures
• Familiarity with common ED equipment and monitoring devices
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team under pressure
• Competence with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
• Strong prioritization and time-management skills in a high-acuity setting
